Please feel free to ask, discuss and exchange ideas, thoughts, reactions, feelings etc. related to your first year of studies. I intend this blog to be an open forum for all of you to participate actively in making your learning a memorable experience and one that you will cherish throughout your professional career.

Dear Prof. Sasi Menon
I do look forward to an active blog presence from the Paerl Academy faculty and students on this blog in the days ahead.
I have started posting details of the course at the NID Foundation which is called "Design Concepts and Conceerns" which can be seen at this link here.
Your students may also wish to connect with the larger issues of "Design for India" which is covered by another blog of the same name.
Prof M P Ranjan from NID
We recently went to Delhi to visit craft ehibitions, they were really an eye opener to our rich crafts of india....
guys i hope it was a great trip ....full of learning and fun????
The Delhi trip was very knowledgeable we came across with a number of distinct cultures of India at a same place through this craft exhibition and could actually relate ourselves with it.
We hope we are going to have some more exciting trips in futute.
Such trips are eye openers! As and when you finish your documentation / compilation, lets put up the matter for everyone to see.
Keep up the good work, pioneering bloggers from PAF Foundation Design! Your entries are what will make this blog richer and more useful. Will look forward to more posts...
Dear Sasi,
Wish you all the best and hope this will be a new learning format for our students. Dhiraj

Mr. sasi i would like to ask u one question that how to depict a particular theme on a costume? e.g if one wants to keep a theme serial killer then how can he depict the same on his costume keeping what things in mind?
Reflecting on Mahendra Pratap's post, I feel that a theme like 'serial killer' is in fact a negative theme and it is quite difficult to represent that in any form. Firstly, serial killers have no identity; the image of a serial killer that we have today is mainly the construct of Hollywood or works of fiction. If one is really looking at creating such an image, maybe references to existing stereotypes can be used. However, I ask the original question again.. why to use a theme such as serial killer in any case?
Serial Killer in Costumes! That's interesting. Let me test my a visual research and marketing concepts on it.And let me know if my though process works?
Who will identify with this costume?
People who are sad and want to express their depressing emotions. for example Rudali.
Is this Depiction important?
Yes. Human heart feels both sides of life : happiness and sadness. If Valentine Day celebrates love, there should be a day to provoke out sadness. Both the phases of life must be expresses for the existence of coin called LIFE.
How to depict?
Depiction must be done so that it touches our sensory receptors.
Eyes : Colours of Grey, black, White.
Nose : Smell fragrances used in funerals, deaths
Skin: Use of flowing, smooth, unstructured fabrics
Ears : Soothing but sad melodies For eg. title song of Taare Zameen Par that still make tears swelling in my eyes!
Taste :Not chocolates and cakes. You suggest me on that.
Please tell me. Does such a thought process work? I am a total non-design teacher. Hence the question.
hello everyone.
recently we went in a tour to udipur, chittorgargh and mt abu. these were some of the ultimate historical places of india .it was a very wonderful and everlasting experience for the foundation students of pearl jaipur.
The fort of chittogargh, the city palace of udipur and dilwara temple of mt abu just shows the stupified skills of artirect and stulptor at that ages.
we have also seen the well known light and sound shows at chittorgargh and udipur which was based on its history and existence.
the most enjoyable experience was at sahaliyo ki bari at udaipur where we bathe in fountain and nakki lake in mt abu where we did boating.
above all huge amount of fun and laughter was dere in the 3 days travel to these places in bus.
so ultimately there was fun, there was learning ,there was knowledge and there was masti a colaboration of everything.
At last i would like to thank on behalf of whole foundation to our faculties for organizing this wonderful trip for us.an immortal experience.
Hello everyone
Now a days i came to know about the actual meaning of design, its not an idea which suddenly comes to your mind and you put it on paper(thats what i earlier used to think)but its a ongoing through process step by step. to evolve an idea on a theme comprises of process like brainstorming, theme board , mood board etc.. and to develop this design concept module plays a important role in p.a.f. thank u Mr. sasi for being our module teacher.

hello ....
Well intutions and logic are one of the most important words used in conceptualizing a design.its really a tough job to prove which word is rather more important in design process.
Intutions is knowing something with its sensual thinking without using its rational process.means something which is immediate and having quite spontaneity. it further means decisions which are not based on consious reasons and justifications.
Whereas logic is a syatematic approach of design which involves step by step process and a series of statements, each of which must be true if the statement before it is true.in actual it is based on some pre defined principles.
And as far as comparision of these two words are concerned both have equal importance in themselves.Immediate good ideas can only come with "intutions" and a better design can only be formed with a logical approach .
May be these words are not sufficient enough to undersatnd such sophisticated things so friends do find out some of its simplified meanings.
HI SIR,
